While you are driving the vehicle listen closely to the engine and pay attention to the way it drives. If you are still interested in the car after the test drive ask if your mechanic can take a look at it. It’s always good to get advice from experts before you buy anything.

Sometimes your mechanic may not get a chance to check it out before you buy it. You can ask the dealer to pull up the car’s service records by using the car’s VIN number to look it up. If the dealer won’t do it for you, you can always use the Internet to look up the records yourself.

If you are not using a dealer to buy your car you can ask the owner if he has any service records for the car. If he is the original owner he may have kept them all. He will most likely have the records from the time that he owned the car. These records will let you know what maintenance has been completed so you don’t miss a service date.

Just remember, buying used cars might be scary, but if you are armed with the right information you will be able to find a great car.
